For Day 11 of NaBloPoMo, I looked again to Blogher for some inspiration for today’s post. The prompt actually comes from their suggestion for the 9th, but I wrote about something else (which you can read here).

The question was:

What is the first thing you do every single day (I mean, after you hit the snooze button)? When did that step in your routine begin?

For me, each morning (during the week) starts with taking Mr. Pugsley for his walk. And now that it’s getting colder some mornings, that occurs after I add some layers on. 🙂

This morning routines is something that started at the beginning of this school year. The reason for this change is because Pugsley now gets to stay out during the day while we’re at work. Previously he would not be in a cage, but he was in the bathroom blocked in with baby gates. We thought this was pretty ideal because he had plenty of room, his bed and water (he doesn’t eat when we’re not home). But apparently Pugsley didn’t think this was so ideal after having that situation for a while.

As you can see from that adorable face, how could I say no? So this year, at the start of the school year, we tried seeing how Pugsley would do being left out to hang out on the couch or sleeping in bed. And  it turns out that he has been doing great! He is much happier and doesn’t seem to be as anxious about being left alone. Before he would sulk when he was told to “go to his room,” but now when I tell him that he’s going to stay, he jumps right up on the couch and seems to settle in.

So, for the happiness of my little fur baby, my morning now starts with a walk bright and early in the morning. (Well, maybe not always so bright…we’re up before the sun is.) And we start the morning off right with a little extra time together.
