A huge thank you to the post of “Five Post Ideas to Get You Through NaBloPoMo.” (If you are also participating in NaBloPoMo, you may want to check it out!)

I’ve never written an open letter before, but I thought that it could be a fun, different kind of post…so I’m giving it a shot. In the ideas provided in the article above, there was the idea of writing an open letter to an object. (There’s also a great post called “The Art of the Open Letter.”) So here goes my attempt:

Dear Couch, perfectly positioned in my living room,

I want to thank you for always being there for me when I get home. You always seem to know when I need a comforting place to land. You always have the ability to provide a soft place to lay my head when I stay up watching TV far too late. (Thank you for Saturday night, when I simply could not make it through Trump’s SNL.)

You allow Pugsley to find comfort on your soft gray cushions when he is the only one at home. You are always perfectly positioned for the best viewing of Sunday football and my on-demand shows. Thank you for allowing me to stretch out and use both you and the coffee table as a place to write these blogs.

My dearest couch, you have only been with us a short time, but already you should know how valued you are. You allow me to cuddle up to your side when I have my cup of tea or coffee. Thank you for letting me sink in to your softness as I settle in with my book to read. You provide the perfect spot for contemplation when anywhere else simply won’t do.

My wonderful gray couch, I simply don’t know what I would do without you.

If you have an idea for an open letter, please share your idea below, and Happy Writing!
